Special Events Advisory for Thursday, Mar. 3 – Sunday, Mar. 6

SEATTLE – The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers to be aware of the following events happening around the city through the weekend that will affect area traffic. The Pac-12 Women’s basketball tournament continues through the weekend at KeyArena. There is a 5th Avenue Theater daytime performance for students on Friday; buses will pick-up and drop-off around nearby Benaroya Hall. Seattle Sounders FC is playing on Sunday afternoon at CenturyLink Field.

THURSDAY MARCH 3rd THROUGH SUNDAY, MARCH 6th:

Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament: The Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Tournament at KeyArena starts today continuing through Sunday at 6 p.m. About 26,000 fans are expected to attend during the tournament.

FRIDAY, MARCH 4th:

5th Avenue Theatre Student Matinee: A daytime performance at the 5th Avenue Theater between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Buses will stage around nearby Benaroya Hall on 2nd Avenue from Union to Seneca streets, University Street from 1st to 3rd avenues and on Seneca Street from 1st to 2nd avenues. About 1,800 students are expected to attend.

SUNDAY, MARCH 6th:

Hot Chocolate 15K/5K Run: Over 7,500 runners will take to the streets for a chocolate inspired race. The 5K leaves the Seattle Center on 2nd Ave N at 6:45 a.m., and the 15K at7:45 a.m. Both runs will turn west on Broad Street, south on Elliott Avenue to Western where runners U-turn at Pike Street for the 5K and Spring Street for the 15K to enter the Battery Street tunnel. Both directions of Aurora Avenue N will be closed between the tunnel and N 39th Street. Streets will reopen to traffic by 12p.m.

SOUNDERS AT CENTURYLINK FIELD:

Sounders vs. Sporting Kansas City: The match is Sunday, Mar. 6th at 4 p.m. About 40,000 people are expected to attend.
