The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers to be aware of several events happening around the city through the weekend that will affect area traffic. The Mariners play Thursday through Sunday at Safeco. The West Seattle Summer Fest closes streets starting Thursday night. The Dragon Festival and Night Market, and the Ballard Seafood Fest are happening this weekend.
THURSDAY, JULY 9-SUNDAY, JULY 12:
West Seattle Summer Fest: Three day community festival in the West Seattle Junction features vendors, crafts, live music and kid’s play zone. Street closures begin Thursday at 6 p.m. for set up at California Ave SW from SW Edmonds to SW Genesee Streets, and SW Alaska from 42nd to 44thAve SW. The celebration begins 10 a.m. Friday until 5 p.m. Sunday. About 24,000 people are expected to attend. http://wsjunction.org/summerfest/
FRIDAY, JULY 10-SUNDAY, JULY 12:
Ballard Seafood Fest: Two day community festival celebrating the neighborhood’s Nordic roots. The festival begins 11 a.m. Saturday until 10 p.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday until 9 p.m. Streets close on 8 p.m. Friday for festival set up. Street closures include NW Market from 20th to 24th Ave NW, 22nd Ave NW from NW Market to NW 58th St, Ballard Ave NW from NW Market to NW Vernon Place and Leary Ave NW from NW Market to NW Vernon Place. About 60,000 people are expected to attend.
Chinatown-ID Dragon Festival and Night Market: Weekend festival features cultural performances and annual $2 Food Walk offering international bites. *Mariners game attendees: street closures begin 9 p.m. Friday on S King Street between 5thAve S to 8thAve S and 7th Ave S from S Weller to S Jackson streets as well as the 6th Ave S, Maynard Ave S intersection. The Night Market will close 5th Ave S from S Jackson-S Dearborn Streets from 12 p.m. to2 a.m. on Saturday evening. The Dragon Festival starts Saturday at 12 p.m. and the Night Market at 7 p.m. until12 a.m. On Sunday, the festival runs12 p.m. to7 p.m. About 24,000 people are expected to attend.
SATURDAY, JULY 11:
Seattle to Portland Bicycle Classic: At 4:45 a.m. until 7:30 a.m., bicyclists will leave in 10 minute waves starting at the University of Washington E-1 Parking lot. Most riders will be outside city limits by 9 a.m. About 10,000 people are expected to participate. http://bit.ly/1Hbx5vP

Queen Anne Days Street Fair: Summer-fest celebration in the Queen Anne Community Center field featuring live music, car show, art walk and dog parade from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. About 350 people are expected to attend. http://www.queenannedays.com/
Wallingford Family Parade: Seafair Wallingford parade celebrates its 66th year of neighborhood spirit. Streets are closed from 9:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. with the parade starting at 11 a.m. at the corner of Interlake Avenue N and N 45th Street and runs east to Bagley Ave N then north to the Meridian Playground. SUNDAY, JULY 12:
Queen Anne Days Kiddie Parade and Family Festival: The parade will close streets from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. with the route: 1st Avenue W southbound from W Crocket, eastbound on W Blaine, northbound on 3rd Avenue W returning into playfield on W Parade starts at 11 a.m. from the West Queen Anne Playfield and continues in surrounding streets until 11:30 a.m. The festival with music, food and fun continues in the playfield until 4 p.m. Howe Street. 215 people are expected for the parade, and 1,500are expected to attend the festival.http://www.queenannedays.com/
See Jane Run Women’s Half Marathon and 5K: Half marathon starts at Gasworks Park at 8 a.m. eastbound on Northlake Way, southbound over the Fremont Bridge, along the Ship Canal Path and south around Lake Union returning northbound on Fairview Avenue N, crossing the University Bridge returning to Gasworks Park along Pacific Avenue. 2,700 runners are estimated to attend. http://www.seejanerun.com/see-jane-run-half-marathon-seattle/
