Special Events Traffic Advisory

SEATTLE – The Seattle Department of Transportation (SDOT) advises travelers to be aware of events happening around the city through the holiday weekend that will add to area traffic.  The Sounders play Friday night at CenturyLink. The Seafair Summer Fourth on Saturday has events at both Gasworks Park and South Lake Union Park. The Special Olympics Relay Across America will move through on Thursday and Friday mornings. The Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival runsFriday through Sunday. The Dirtybird BBQ traveling food and music tour is Sunday in SODO.


Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival: The 39th Annual festival celebrating the maritime heritage of the Northwest at the Center for Wooden Boats in South Lake Union Park.  Festival hours are from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Friday through Sunday. About 9,750 people are estimated to attend.


Seattle Sounders FC plays DC United at 8 p.m. About 40,000 people are expected to attend.


Seafair Summer Fourth: Holiday fireworks and celebration at Gasworks Park from 12 p.m. to 11 p.m., and South Lake Union Park from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. The fireworks show starts at 10:20 p.m. There will be major impacts to traffic and parking in Wallingford, Eastlake and South Lake Union neighborhoods. Valley Street is closed from 12 a.m. until 12 p.m.Streets in neighborhood north of Gasworks Park will be closed to all except for local access at 12 p.m. About 65,000 people are estimated to attend.  Map of closures:


Dirtybird BBQ: celebrate Seattle’s vibrant music and food communities in the SODO district. Event is on Occidental Ave S from Holgate to the midblock north and in the adjacent parking lot.  The event runs from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. 3,600 people are estimated to attend.
