Seattle Transportation Proposition 1

Transportation Proposition 1: The Seattle City Council has placed a measure on the November 4 ballot, Transportation Proposition 1, to fund Seattle bus routes.

It is a transit-only measure that will preserve transit service within city limits and along key inter-city routes, preventing a majority of planned bus cuts due to King County Metro funding shortfalls.

The ballot measure (seattle.gov/stbd/) would include a $60 vehicle license fee and a 0.1% sales tax, imposed only within the city, to benefit the Seattle Transportation Benefit District (STBD).  These are the same funding sources that would have been imposed countywide under Proposition 1, defeated in April’s special election.   For more information, contact Councilmember Tom Rasmussen at tom.rasmussen@seattle.gov
